A Sword Letter Opener As A Unique Gift

The giving of a sword letter opener, or what has been called a paper knife, as a gift can be considered unique and thoughtful. There are many uses like opening mail or slit the pages of books that are uncut. A further use for this type of gift is that it can double as a weapon that can be used for self defense or assault depending on the circumstances. Hopefully though that will never have to come to pass.

In general a letter opener is often made of metal, wood, plastic, or a any combination of any of the proceeding materials. Ivory is sometimes inlaed in the handle as a decorative addition. Most of these knives that are made to cut paper vary in size but are often about seven inches to nine inches long.

A sword letter opener in contrast is often made of metal. Such as stainless steel, pewter, or steel. Some have finishes that further decorate them and are often composed of silver or gold. These letter openers are constructed as miniature swords and are frequently constructed to have a resemblance to historically significant swords, swords from movies, or as exact replicas of an antique sword.

Throughout history the sword has become a symbol of truth, justice, firmness, and equality. As a result of this symbolism quite a few organizations have utilized swords in many of their most important ceremonies.

A few swords have also become the symbol of a monarch’skingdom. The legend of the sword Excalibur and King Arthur as told. This sword, it was said, was intended for one man and one man only. When he was no more the sword was returned to where it came from.

Sword letter openers can be a truly unique gift. They are a representation in miniature of the symbol that is believed to represent many noble qualities, including justice. How truly fascinating it would be for one to possess a tool that is both functional, opening the mail, and symbolic.
